KABUL - AN AFGHAN health official says a suicide car bomb attack against a US convoy in eastern Afghanistan has wounded 57 civilians.
The attack happened on Thursday outside Jalalabad, the capital of the eastern Nangarhar province.
US Sergeant 1st Class Joel Peavy says one American soldier has been wounded.
Mr Ajmal Pardes, a health official for Nangarhar province, says 57 civilians also have been wounded.
He says 17 of those victims were given first aid and released, while 40 are still in hospital in the provincial capital of Jalalabad.
Taleban militants regularly use suicide attackers and car bombsin their assaults against US, Afghan and other foreign troops in the country.
