35 killed in bus accident
MULTAN (Pakistan) - AT LEAST 35 people died when a bus collided with a milk tanker and caught fire in central Pakistan, police said on Tuesday.

The accident happened late Monday near the city of Muzaffargarh, area police chief Yousaf Lashari said.

The bus was speeding when it struck the other vehicle on a narrow road, then immediately began to burn, he said.

At least 35 people died, and police were still trying to establish identities, Mr Lashari said.

Fatal road accidents are common in Pakistan, where disregard for traffic rules is widespread.

Muzaffargarh lies about 75 kilometres north-west of Multan, which is a main city in the country's eastern Punjab province. -- AP
