HANOI (Vietnam) - OFFICIALS say a truck and a bus have collided on a slippery road in central Vietnam, killing at least 16 people.
District police officer Mr Nguyen Anh Hung says 14 people died at the site of the accident early on Sunday in Nghe An province's Dien Chau district.
Hospital doctor Dr Nguyen Thi Trinh says two more died on the way to the hospital in the provincial capital, where 13 wounded, including two bus drivers and the truck driver, were being treated.
Mr Hung says an initial investigation shows the bus skidded on a curve in the road, which was wet after heavy rain, and collided with the oncoming truck. He says the bus was carrying 29 passengers.
Nearly 13,000 traffic deaths were recorded in Vietnam in 2007. -- AP
