Danish plane safe after scare
COPENHAGEN (Denmark) - A CHARTER plane with 145 people on board landed safely at Copenhagen airport on Friday after reporting a landing gear malfunction, police said.

Danish TV footage showed the Boeing 737 belonging to charter airline Jettime touching down on the runway and taxiing to a gate, followed by more than a dozen rescue vehicles.

The plane took off from Billund, western Denmark, and was headed to Lanzarote in the Canary Islands when the pilot reported a landing gear malfunction, police said.

Two Danish Air Force F-16 jets were sent up to check the plane and confirmed there was a problem with the landing gear, Copenhagen Police spokesman Mr Flemming Steen Munch said.

After dumping fuel, the plane was ordered to land at Copenhagen airport.

The plane landed safely and no one was injured, Mr Munch said -- AP
