BRUSSELS - THE European Union slammed on Tuesday cuts in natural gas supplies to Europe as 'completely unacceptable' as an energy price war rages between Russia and Ukraine.

'This situation is completely unacceptable,' said a statement from the EU's presidency, currently held by the Czech Republic, and the bloc's executive arm, the European Commission.

'Without prior warning and in clear contradiction with the reassurances given by the highest Russian and Ukrainian authorities to the European Union, gas supplies to some EU member states have been substantially cut.' -- AFP
