Malia, 10, and Sasha, seven, joined their mother, Michelle Obama, on a vast blue-carpeted stage after hearing her pledge to Americans and the world that their father would be an 'extraordinary president'.
But in the end the evening belonged to her girls. 'I love you daddy,' shouted seven-year-old Sasha excitedly into a microphone as her father appeared on a giant screen in a live satellite feed from Kansas City.
Waving, and blowing kisses the two girls were completely unfazed as delegates erupted in cheers when they walked onto stage to the strains of Stevie Wonder's 'Isn't She Lovely'.
Mr Obama was hard pushed to get a word in edgeways as his irrepresible daughter stole the show. 'Which city are you in daddy?' she asked, cutting him off in mid-sentence.
'Look after mommy before I get there on Thursday,' Mr Obama then said, before waving goodbye. -- AFP
