MADRID - SPANISH driver Jaime Alguersuari is set to become the youngest ever Formula One driver as Spanish press reports on Saturday suggested he will replace Sebastien Bourdais in the Torro Rosso cockpit when the Hungarian Grand Prix gets under way later this month.

Frenchman Bourdais is said to be in disfavour with the Toro Rosso camp following lacklustre performances in this year's Formula One campaign.

The 30-year-old - winner of the now defunct Champ Car title in the United States - is currently sixteenth in the driver's table, two rungs lower than Swiss team-mate Sebastien Buemi.

Alguersuari who benefits from sponsorship by Spanish oil giant Repsol won last year's F3 championship.

Meanwhile French sports newspaper l'Equipe claimed on Saturday that five-time world rally champion Sebestien Loeb has signalled he would be available to take over the Torro Rosso position on the F1 circuit should it become vacant. -- AFP
