Hamilton tops practice again

NUERBURGRING (Germany) - DEFENDING Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton continued his surprise run at the top of the timesheets after setting the fastest lap for the second straight German Grand Prix practice session.

The McLaren driver closed out practice on Saturday with a time of 1 minute, 31.121 seconds around the Nuerburgring circuit to put himself in contention for a points finish.

Renault's Fernando Alonso was second fastest - just over two-tenths of a second behind - ahead of Ferrari's Felipe Massa.

Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber - favorites to give the Austrian team a second straight victory - rounded out the top-five.

Overall F1 leader Jenson Button of Brawn GP was 11th in the cool conditions, while teammate Rubens Barrichello was 14th. -- AP
