NZ tie with Indonesia

WELLINGTON - NEW Zealand came from behind to wrap up their Asia-Oceania Group II Davis Cup tie against Indonesia on Saturday with victory in the doubles in four sets.

Dan King-Turner and GD Jones dropped the first set against Christopher Rungkat and Ketut-Nesa Arta before fighting back to win 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7/4), 6-4.

In the second and fourth sets they also came back from a service break down and were stretched to a tie break in the third set.

'We were a little slow to start, which we weren't wanting to do,' King-Turner said. 'At 5-5 in the second set we got the break and won it from there. It was a tough match. They played well and were quite sharp and volleying well. We didn't want to go into tomorrow still needing to win.'

The two players also won their singles matches on the opening day to give New Zealand an unbeatable 3-0 lead ahead of the two reverse singles, to be played on Sunday.

New Zealand's next tie will be away to the winners of the other Group II semi-final between the Philippines and Pakistan being played in Manila. -- AFP
