CHINA'S Zhong Chunchan took the first gold of the shooting events when she shot 499.5 to beat South Korean Go Dowon by 0.9 in the Girls' 10-metre Air Rifle on Wednesday.
The 17-year-old, who was competing in her first overseas competition, collected her first gold medal at Safra Yishun.
She said in Mandarin: 'I'm very surprised with my win. I didn't even know I had won until the announcer called my name.'
Singapore duo Jodie Tan, 17 and Goh Jia Yi, 14 finished in a disappointing fifth and ninth respectively.
'It's slightly disappointing but I will learn from this experience and do better in my next competition,' admitted Jia Yi.
