IN a heartbreaking finish, Singapore's junior hockey team lost 1-2 to Poland on Wednesday night in the Men's Junior Hockey World Cup.

The Poles took the lead in the 57th minute thanks to midfielder Piotr Kozlowski's flicked effort.

The host equalised through Tan Yi Ru five minutes later to the delight of the crowd gathered at the Sengkang Hockey Stadium.

But an injury-time penalty stroke scored by Krystian Makowski was enough to give Poland a last-minute victory.

The results leaves Singapore bottom of Pool D with three straight losses. They face another tough game against New Zealand on Thursday.
