BERLIN - THE ORGANISERS of Berlin's Golden League meeting have confirmed Olympic champions Yelena Isinbayeva, Sanya Richards and Andreas Thorkildsen are set to compete on June 14.

Russian pole-vault queen Isinbayeva, the world-record holder, is one of the top names scheduled alongside Beijing 4x400m relay winner Richards, of the USA, and javelin champion Thorkildsen, who won gold in both Athens and Beijing.

Finland's reigning world champion Tero Pitkaemaeki will also be competing in Berlin in what promises to be a battle royal against Norway's Thorkildsen.

And Croatia's high-jump queen Blanka Vlasic, who was beaten into silver in Beijing, is expected to take part.

The reigning world high-jump champion is expected to be up against local rival Ariane Friedrich of Germany, who beat her at the European Indoor Championships in Torino earlier this year.

Berlin's Golden League meeting is the first in a series which includes Oslo, Rome, Paris, Zurich and Brussels with any athlete who wins all six events able to claim to the 1 million dollars jackpot.

The World Athletics Championships will also be held at Berlin's Olympic Stadium between August 15-23. -- AFP
