ROME - ANGRY Juventus fans harangued beleaguered club bosses during and after the Italian giants' dismal 2-2 home draw against second-from-bottom Lecce on Sunday.

Juve have not won in five Serie A matches and not only are they all but mathematically out of the title race, but they also look likely to miss out on second place to AC Milan.

Club president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli, sports director Alessio Secco and coach Claudio Ranieri all came in for harsh treatment while only general manager Jean-Claude Blanc was spared, but possibly because his name doesn't rhyme with any offensive Italian words.

And the fans' mood was not helped by Lecce's Jose Ignacio Castillo scoring an equaliser three minutes into injury time at the end of the game.

Not only club bosses but players too were targetted with Mauro Camoranesi and Jonathan Zebina coming in for particularly harsh treatment.

So too was a player who has not even joined the club yet, Italy World Cup winning captain Fabio Cannavaro. The Real Madrid centre-back left Juve three years ago when they were relegated to Serie B for match-fixing but press reports here claim he is on the verge of rejoining the club.

However many Juve fans have not forgiven him for jumping ship after the 'calciopolli' scandal and sang out 'we don't want you' throughout the Lecce match.

AS Roma fans also jeered their team and chanted songs against club bosses during the last five minutes of their 0-0 home draw against lowly Chievo.

The two dropped points mean Roma have almost no chance of qualifying for the Champions League next season. Roma president Rosella Sensi empathised with the club's fans.

'I understand their protests, I understand them because this has been a bitter season where expectations have not been met,' she said. 'I respect the fans because I'm one of them and I understand their feelings.' -- AFP
