ARSENE Wenger smiled ruefully when he heard on Friday that Cristiano Ronaldo almost chose Arsenal instead of Manchester United because his mother Maria Delores liked what she saw of Monsieur Wenger.
'I'm disappointed that I seduced only Ronaldo's mum,' said Wenger.
The story goes that Cristiano was a guest at Wenger's training ground before United gazumped Arsenal by offering Sporting £12.5 million (S$29 million) for the prodigy who had played just 25 first-team games in the summer of 2003.
