SCARPERIA (Italy) - MOTOGP champion Valentino Rossi tested a Ferrari Formula One car Thursday on the Mugello track he has won the Italian Grand Prix on the past seven years.
Rossi drove the F2008, the car used by Ferrari drivers Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen in the recently concluded Formula One season.
Ferrari team director Stefano Domenicali was on hand, although Rossi is apparently no longer considering a full-time switch to Formula One. Rossi also tested with Ferrari in 2005 and 2006, after which he decided to stick with motorcycling.
Ferrari offered him another chance as a gift for winning this year's MotoGP title.
Ferrari spokesman Luca Colajanni said Rossi completed more than 20 laps in the morning, with more testing scheduled for the afternoon and on Friday. He refused to provide details.
