FLORIDA - DAVIS Love III won the Children's Miracle Network Classic at Disney on Sunday, closing with an 8-under 64 for a one-shot victory over Tommy Gainey in the final PGA Tour event of the year.
Love scrambled for pars on the final two holes, including a tough bunker shot to 3 feet on the 18th, to hold off a late charge from Gainey, who shot 30 on the back nine of the Magnolia Course and closed with a 64.
It was the 20th career victory for Love, giving him a lifetime exemption on the PGA Tour. Among active players, only Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh and Phil Mickelson have won more than 20 tour events.
Love, who finished at 25-under 263, won for the first time in more than two years and earned US$828,000 (S$1.24 million). -- AP
