CHAMPIONSHIP leader Lewis Hamilton has no trouble sleeping in Singapore at odd times ahead of Formula One's first night race.
'I always sleep. I have never had a problem with sleep, I could sleep forever. It is my favourite thing in the world, sleeping,' Hamilton was quoted as saying by Autosport.com.
The Briton said his attempt to stay on European time seems to have 'worked quite well.' Formula One drivers, attuned to European time, are at peak performance in afternoons, which corresponds to night in Singapore.
'We are out on the track at 8pm and it does feel kind of weird,' Hamilton said. 'We are doing our debrief at midnight and I didn't eat this morning until 3am.' Hamilton and his teammates at McLaren are wearing two watches, for local and European times, so that they don't miss events.
'But it definitely messes with the mind,' Hamilton said. 'I don't think it is as easy as the normal day when you wake up at 7am or 8am and go to your practice sessions at 11am and 2pm.'
Describing the changes caused by the time changes, he said: 'Your body is going up and down the whole day, you feel energetic, then you feel tired and then energetic. But the more and more days we go through it, the better we get.' -- AP
