AN 18-year-old girl who was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend suffered 15 external injuries, three of them fatal wounds, the High Court heard on Wednesday.

Miss Jeevith Panippans had stabs to her left chest and left shoulder. Her neck was also slit, said forensic pathologist George Paul, who conducted the autopsy on her.

The fatal wounds, which cut into cartilage and bone, were inflicted to severely maim or hurt and and highly unlikely to be caused by someone slashing in a cavalier manner, said Dr Paul.

Miss Jeevitha's boyfriend, Pathip Selvan Sugumaran, 23, is on trial for murdering her.

On Wednesday, his lawyer Subhas Anandan told the court that he will be tendering a psychiatric report done on his client. The trial continues on Thursday.
