Shorter queues for zoo visitors
By Jessica Lim

VISITORS to the Singapore Zoo, Jurong Bird Park and Night Safari will get into the tourist attractions more quickly from September next year when an online booking system which allows them to print their tickets kicks in.

The Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS) which manages these three attractions, hopes to shave down customer waiting time which has been a bugbear of many locals and tourists.

WRS receives about five complaints a month from customers about excessively long queues to enter the parks.

The WRS will also put in place electronic barcode scanners and a turnstile system at its parks to further cut down visitors' waiting time.

Currently, tickets are collected and manually inspected by park attendants.

WRS chief executive Fanny Lai admitted that 'doing it manually is just not as fast'. She said the parks hope to halve waiting time during peak-hours to 10 minutes with the initiatives.
