Cabby charged with rash act
By Elena Chong, Courts Correspondent

A CABBY was charged on Tuesday with causing the death of a pillion rider by doing a rash act and injuring the motorcyclist.

Yin Ming Seng, 71, was driving a cab when he allegedly failed to give way to a motorcyclist while making a right turn from Loyang Avenue into Tampines Expressway last Dec 19.

The charge states that the motorcyclist was coming from the opposite direction along Tampines Avenue 7 and had the right of way.

The accident resulted in the death of Singapore Airport Terminal Services (Sats) customer service officer Siti Sadra Mesran, 28, who was then three months' pregnant.

Yin also allegedly caused grievous hurt to Madam Sadra's husband, Sats police officer Ridzuan Saadon, 30, by doing an act so rashly as to endanger life.

Yin, whose police bail was extended, will go for a pre-trial conference on Nov 23.
