THE 50 most enterprising companies in Singapore were honoured at the annual Enterprise 50 Awards gala dinner on Monday, held at the Raffles City Convention Centre.

Amid the economic slowdown, this year's awards placed more emphasis on the strength and resilience of the firms.

Topping the list of winners was infrastructure and civil engineering firm Samwoh Corporation. Managing director Elvin Koh (third from left) received the prize from the guest-of-honour, Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam. Second spot went to Mr Ong Tiong Siew (right), managing director of Ryobi Kiso, a ground engineering firm.

In third place was Sin Heng Heavy Machinery, which rents and sells cranes and other heavy lifting equipment. Managing director Don Tan (left) and founder Tan Ah Lye (second from left) represented the company on Monday.
