A MALAYSIAN construction worker who used a metal chain to hit a cab along a road was jailed for two weeks on Monday.
Ngo Boon Pin, 26, had earlier admitted to the rash act to endanger the safety of others along Adam Road on Jan 10.
The court heard that Ngo was riding a motorcycle when cabby Michael Ng Aik Koon, 50, who was driving a fare along Braddell Road, decided to slow down to allow the rider to overtake him. But Ngo did not. Instead he rode very close to the margin of the road and very near the cab.
Mr Ng then sounded his horn to alert Ngo before proceeding to drive past him. The cabby then noticed Ngo gesturing at him and tailing him to the Pan-Island Expressway.
Along Adam Road, Mr Ng heard a loud sound coming from the side of his vehicle and saw Ngo holding a coiled metal chain in his hand. Mr Ng continued to drive and called the police. He later found two small dents on the trimming around the front left passenger's side window.
Ngo could have been jailed for up to six months or fined up to $2,500 or both.
