HER name is Olivia, and a future version of her will be receiving visitors to the Agency of Science, Technology and Research (A*Star) in the next one to two years.
For now, an early version of this robot receptionist is on show at TechFest, the Institute of Infocomm Research's annual exhibition of all its ongoing technologies.
Olivia, whose two eyes are lenses of a stereoscopic camera, can detect if a person is standing in front of her.
She has the ability to make out human voices and process their words. Right now, she is programmed with information about Fusionopolis, where A*Star is located and can answer simple questions when asked where the swimming pool is, for instance.
TechFest is held on the first floor of Fusionopolis, and ends at 6pm on Thursday. Admission is free.
