A GETAI performance at Arumugam Road was more than a show put up to appease the spirits during the seventh month Hungry Ghost Festival.

It was a charity event with a multiethnic audience too.

Rice and red packets were distributed to 175 needy families, and 90 per cent of the beneficiaries were Malay and Indian families.

The event was sponsored by Lorong Koo Chye Sheng Tong Temple.

Fatimah Lateef, MP for Marine Parade GRC also attended the show. She addressed the crowd in both English and Mandarin.
