By Shuli Sudderuddin

AT LEAST five foreign men, injured in last Friday's twin hotel bombings in Jakarta, have arrived in Singapore to seek medical treatment.

Two, an Indonesian and an American, were flown in by International SOS on Friday night.

On Saturday, a Dutchman and an American, were flown in by International SOS on an air ambulance, arriving at around 12.30am.

An air ambulance is a small aircraft with medical equipment like oxygen tanks and a life support system.

International SOS is a provider of medical assistance, international health care, security services and outsourced customer care.

Yesterday, it also helped in the hospital admission of an Australian who flew to Singapore on his own.

A spokesman said commercial firms buy membership for employees who, while travelling, fall sick or are injured.

She added: 'When crises happen, we deploy a team because there is usually a good chance that our members are involved. We can then help, for example, by sending them to the nearest medical centre of excellence or repatriating them to their hometown once their conditions have stabilised.'

She also said International SOS, which has more than 7,000 corporate clients worldwide, can work with hospitals to help patients with hospital admission.

At National University Hospital, where Indonesian Adrianto Machribie and American David Potter are hospitalised, counter staff said visitors are currently not allowed to see them.
