SINGAPORE'S Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said that it was unable to confirm reports that a Singaporean was among the nine casualties in the blasts in Jakarta.
In a statement released on Saturday, MFA said that the Singapore Embassy in Jakarta had been in contact with the Indonesian authorities, the Police and hospitals where victims of the bombings were sent to for treatment.
Embassy staff have also been to the hospital where the bodies of victims are kept, but were unable to confirm a Singaporean fatality.
The Indonesian Health Ministry had reported that it identified five of the dead, who include two from Australia, one from New Zealand, one from Singapore and one from Indonesia, according to The Associated Press.
MFA appeals to anyone knowing of a Singaporean friend or relative who was in Jakarta and has been uncontactable since the bomb blasts to contact them at 6332 0000.
Two blasts hit the JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton hotels in Jakarta on Friday, leaving eight people dead and more than 50 wounded.
