BEING five hours early was not enough for one man anxious to be the first to own the iPhone 3G at its launch here last year. Despite his efforts, Mr Jackson Low, 29, wound up second in line.
On Friday, he made sure he would be the first in Singapore to get the speedier iPhone 3GS. Mr Low, a medical test subject recruiter, turned up at 9am, 11 hours before sales of Apple's hit smartphone began at 8pm.
Those who want the iPhone must buy it from SingTel, which sells it at prices of up to $678. Buyers also need to sign up for a two-year contract.
Existing SingTel iPhone users like Mr Low can pay an upgrade fee to get the new model.
