Fund for endangered species
By Victoria Vaughan

WHEN you next visit the Bird Park, the Zoo, or the Night Safari, you could be helping to save Singapore's endangered animals.

Since April, 20 cents from each ticket to the three parks has been donated to a new conservation fund.

The Wildlife Reserves Singapore Conservation Fund, was officially launched on Friday by Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS), the parent company of the three parks.

The fund aims to help preserve and protect the island's endangered species, such as pangolins.

WRS has donated $1 million seed money to kickstart the fund.

The new fund has committed $500,000 over a five year period to the National University of Singapore's Ah Meng Conservation Fund and its first project will be on the banded langur monkey.

It is estimated that there are less than 30 left on the island.

WRS will not be applying for money to the fund and will use its own money to fund its conservation projects.
