Precautions for public transport

PUBLIC transport operators and taxi companies are taking precautions against the new flu strain, so commuters need not avoid taking buses, trains or taxis if they are well, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said on Wednesday.

Transport companies have intensified cleaning and disinfecting of their premises, common areas of bus terminals and MRT and LRT stations, buses, trains and taxis. They have also increased ventilation of the vehicles.

Staff members are given regular updates on the flu situation and have their temperatures screened daily.

The LTA advises commuters to to avoid travelling during peak hours, if possible, and to avoid taking public transport if they have flu-like symptoms.
