Takeda Pharma opens centre

JAPAN'S largest drugmaker Takeda opened a clinical trials nerve centre in Singapore to coordinate clinical trials in the Asia-Pacific region on Wednesday.

The Takeda Clinical Research Singapore at the SGX Centre building in Shenton Way will coordinate clinical trials for new drugs to treat diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer and diseases affecting the gut and nervous system.

This is the company's first R&D centre in the Asia-Pacific outside Japan. Takeda also opened its first commercial headquarters in Asia-Pacific called Takeda Pharmaceuticals Asia, also located at the SGX building, on Wednesday.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Office and secretary-general of the National Trades Union Congress, Mr Lim Swee Say, graced the opening ceremony at the Raffles Hotel.
