FINDING a job can be difficult at the best of times, but for a handful of Singaporeans who wanted jobs as cleaners in a food court or an office complex, things became more than a little sticky.
The reason: The prospective applicants, in their 50s or older and lowly-educated, were asked to email resumes or bring typed out and printed copies of their work experience for the face-to-face interviews.
Career consultants at the Central Singapore Community Development Council (CSCDC), where the bewildered job applicants turned to for help finding a job, had to help them write and type out resumes or teach them the advantages of electronic mail over the more traditional, slower method, a CDC spokesman said.
