Firefly is also the seventh carrier to fly the booming Singapore-Malaysia sector.
The Malaysia Airlines subsidiary currently flies three daily flights from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur, and will add another flight in about two weeks
From this month, it will also begin flights to Ipoh, Kuala Terengganu, Kuantan and Malacca. Two new routes to Kota Bharu and Alor Setar will be added in Oct.
The airline is currently offering a promotional one-way fare of S$31 ( all-in) to any destination in Malaysia.
'Firefly's new flights to Changi will add to the already burgeoning air travel market between Singapore and Malaysia,' said Changi Airport Group's Chief Executive Officer Lee Seow Hiang.
Mr Lee noted that the airline will add 12 daily flights to Changi, representing a 12 per cent increase in scheduled passenger flights between the two countries.
Changi will also be linked to nine cities in Malaysia via 110 daily flights
Between January and May, about 1.3 million people flew between Singapore and Malaysia. This represents growth of more than 20 per cent compared with the same period last year.
