WHILE being investigated by the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) for her involvement in a marriage of convenience with cleaner Chan Hon Kwan, Chinese national Lin Yanmei was found to have a credit card given to her by another man.
In a district court on Monday, she denied telling principal senior investigator Neo Siong Leng that she had frequented hotels with Mr Mah Ching Leong.
She said he was her 'godfather'.
Ms Lin, a 41-year-old clinic assistant who accused Neo of assaulting her last year, testified that Mr Mah gave the card because she reminded him so much of his daughter in Australia.
Testifying in Mandarin, she told Neo's lawyer Subhas Anandan that she did not take money from Mr Mah.
She had also reimbursed him for the credit card expenses.
She denied describing him to Neo as a business partner and that they had intended to set up a marriage agency.
She was unable to tell the court how old Mr Mah was but said that his wife was 62 years old.
It was during this interview that Ms Lin alleged Neo had kicked a table that hit her knee.
Later that day when recording her statement in his office, he hit her with a black plastic file that caused a cut on her lower lip and a chipped tooth.
Ms Lin also testified that Neo had threatened to 'beat her to death'.
When asked by Mr Anandan why she had not included this 'very serious threat' in her police report or in her testimony on Friday, she said that she had not been asked about it.
