AFTER 15 years, almost the entire 1994 Malaysia Cup and M-League Double-winning side will be back on the same pitch again.

Kallang Roar favourites such as Fandi Ahmad, Abbas Saad, Malek Awab, Nazri Nasir, Jang Jung, V. Sundramoorthy and David Lee, just to name a few, will be strapping up their bootlaces one more time.

But there will not be any trophies to win this time.

Instead, the 'boys' - as Abbas still likes to call the team - are taking the field to help raise funds for four-year-old Charmaine Lim.

Charmaine suffers from neuroblastoma, a kind of cancer that occurs in infants and kids. Doctors have given her only a 20 per cent chance of surviving.

But her mother, Cynthia, hopes to send her to the United States where an alternative treatment could increase her survival rate up to 50 per cent.

The procedure, however, costs about $500,000.

Former Singapore midfielder Rafi Ali got the team together, after reading about Charmaine's plight.

Said Rafi, who currently operates his own football school: 'I was touched to read her story. So I called up Fandi, Abbas and a few guys and we all decided to get back together for a good cause.'

In just a week, Rafi has managed to get most of the 1994 squad - with the help of sponsors.
