The club - identified as a cluster with five H1N1 cases linked to it as of yesterday - said a full-scale disinfection lasting 12 hours will be carried out today.

Three of the cases were originally classified as a National University of Singapore cluster as they were all students there.

Two teams of cleaners will work on the premises. One team will disinfect the common corridors outside the club and use an ozone mist to clean every nook and cranny inside; the other team will use anti-microbial scrubs on frequently-touched surfaces in the club, such as doorknobs and table tops.

Tomorrow, clubbers seeking entry will be watched even more closely by bouncers. Those who are visibly ill will be singled out and subjected to temperature checks.

Other clubs contacted also said it will be business as usual, though some will look into whether they should beef up preventive measures.

Ms Mari Muramoto, the marketing manager at Zouk, said that, starting today, all employees reporting to work will have their temperatures taken; they will also be on the lookout for customers who are unwell, among other things.

These moves are in addition to earlier ones: Posters on environmental cleanliness and personal hygiene have gone up, and employees who have travelled recently have been submitting travel details.

Most clubs had this common message for club-goers: Do your part by being socially responsible.

Club patrons like 20-year-old Rowell Soon appear unfazed. He said he will not be worried unless the H1N1 outbreak becomes more severe.
