IN A desperate bid to escape, a man drove his car smack into a vehicle used by Central Narcotics Bureau officers.
Rolizam Zainal Abidin, 35, then managed to squeeze past it and race out of the car park.
Along Tampines Avenue 3, his rental car slammed into a passing car before jumping lanes and going against the flow of traffic despite it being 6.30pm on a weekday.
Outside St Hilda's Primary School, he came to a grinding halt after hitting a third car. He took to his heels but did not get far.
CNB officers with the help of a passer-by arrested him after a violent struggle.
His accomplice however escaped.
Friday was Rolizam's birthday but he had very little to celebrate.
For driving rashly, he was sentenced to four months in jail.
For possessing a knife with a 27cm blade found in the car, he was jailed an additional nine months and ordered to be caned six times.
Police also found 46 Erimin-5 pills and an assortment of other drugs in his waist pouch and in another pouch in the car.
