IF THE new stamps celebrating the Singapore Botanic Gardens 150th anniversary look familiar, it could be because the artist's work is already in your wallet.

Singapore's $5 note features a tree painted by the stamp's artist Mr Eng Siak Loy, who recently retired from National Parks Design department.

The images gracing his latest set of stamps come from a painting which took Mr Eng over two months to complete last year.

Mr Eng, 67, winner of the President's Design Award in 2007, has been painting for more than 30 years and now spends about 12 hours a day on his art. He has had 56 designs selected for stamps.
