LEUNG Man Kwan, 33, was charged on Wednesday with allegedly perverting the course of justice by falsely assuming responsibility for a traffic offence.

The property agent had admitted to beating a red light for student Evangeline Tay Su Ann, 20, in payment of $1,000.

It appeared that after committing the traffic violation at the junction of Lornie and Sime Road while driving a friend's Nissan Cefiro on the night of Feb 22 last year, Ms Tay approached property agent Kelvin Choo Yew Beng to find someone to take the rap.

He roped in Leung, who was his girlfriend at that time.

According to a press release issued by the Corrupt Practices Investigation Department (CPIB), Leung's particulars were passed to the car-owner, who submitted these to the traffic police.

The $1,000 was then believed to have been transferred into Leung's bank account.
