TWO Circle Line (CCL) stations have been christened Haw Par Villa and Caldecott, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced on Tuesday.
The Street and Building Names Board (SBNB) has given the green light for CCL stations West Coast and Thomson, to be officially named Haw Par Villa and Caldecott respectively.
These stations were not included in 2005's station naming exercise as they were initially designated as shell stations.
As the pace of the development around these two stations is picking up, Transport Minister Raymond Lim later said LTA would fit out both to be opened together with the other CCL stations.
The LTA also said on Tuesday that the names of Downtown Line 1 (DTL1) stations Chinatown, Promenade, and Bugis would remain unchanged as they are the names of interchange stations.
The remaining three DTL1 stations will be named Telok Ayer, Downtown, and Bayfront.
Names of nine Downtown Line 2 (DTL2) stations have also been finalised, after a month-long campaign.
LTA had invited members of the public to submit suggested names for the nine DTL2 stations. More than 3,000 suggestions were sent in.
The public was then invited to participate in a polling exercise. LTA received 8,923 responses from this.
Results of the polling were then collated and submitted to SBNB for final approval.
