WOULD you like to try yourself against top runners in the world like Usain Bolt or Carl Lewis on an indoor track, as they dash beside you on a screen?
This kind of interactive digital display is just one of the ideas Mr Lars Rehnman, chief executive of Swedish science discovery centre Universeum, wants to bring to the Singapore Science Centre, he said, in conjunction with the inaugural Youth Olympic Games to be held here next year.
Mr Rehnman is part of a Swedish delegation that is in Singapore to ink a memorandum of understanding between the two countries on developing the field of interactive digital media (IDM).
The Media Development Authority earmarked the Gothenburg business region in Sweden as a partner for more business-to-business matchmaking between Swedish and Singaporean companies.
Gothenburg, in particular, has the high-tech Lindholmen Science Park, which is the Swedish version of Singapore's one-north that houses tech and media companies.
As part of the memorandum of understanding, the Nanyang Technological University is also working with the Gothenburg Region Experiential Learning Centre to explore how massively multi-player online role-playing games, such as MapleStory or World of Warcraft, can be used in education.
