TEMPERATURES are set to rise when the Singapore Grand Prix Season returns for a second round in September, with raging parties, exciting Asian cuisine, sizzling fashion and red-hot shopping deals to hype up the buzz.

Acts like Il Divo will be coming to town during the season, along with art works by famous artists like Brazilian Romero Britto with his whimiscal and colourful sculptures. There will be great dining and shopping deals too.

Organiser Singapore Tourism Board on Friday said this year's event will be shorter, 10 days instead of 21, as the focus is on quality rather than quantity. The season kicks off on Sept 18 and ends on Sept 27.

Last year, some 30 per cent of visitors to Singapore GP Season events were foreigners. And STB said these F1 tourists stayed one to two days longer than the average visitor and spent twice as much on shopping and three times more on food and beverage. So this year, the focus will be to try and drive more of these visitors to local attractions.

During the event, visitors can expect to see a return of Amber Lounge on Sept 26 and 27, a special exhibition on Orchard Road of Britto's works from Sept 25 to Oct 25, and a special free public photo exhibition at a venue to be decided.

STB said the line-up of events is just a preview of things to come. There are many more deals being lined up and details will be announced at a later stage.
