A SURVEY commissioned by the Council for Third Age showed that while Singaporeans valued seniors, seniors themselves were not so positive.

The study, which involved 2,000 participants, showed that 90 per cent of respondents believe Singaporeans can play an active role in society and are well-integrated.

However, less than 70 per cent of seniors aged 65 and above feel that way.

Among other findings, the survey also showed that respondents with better social networks and family ties are generally more satisfied with life.

In light of the findings C3A, will be co-organising the International consortium for Intergenerational Programmes (ICIP) conference which will bring together 300 international and local experts and delegates to discuss the impact of intergeneraional issues in the workplace and society.

The council will also launch and Intergenerational Bonding Award to encourage the development of programmes promoting inter-generational bonding.
