JOURNALISTS and media organisations attended a Singapore Press Club talk at Singapore Press Holdings' auditorium on Wednesday to learn more about the new media format of Twitter.
The social networking website became prominent in the media world during the Mumbai attacks, and has now become one of the world's most popular social networking sites.
Ms Patricia Law from Ogilvy's 360 Degree Digital Influence outlined the basic uses for Twitter, giving an overview of the website and other sites that help users access Twitter.
She also briefly discussed a number of ways that traditional media can utilise and take advantage of Twitter, including tracking trending stories developing a following with readers.
The audience also heard from Mr Tan Tarn How, New Media Senior Researcher at the Institute of Policy Studies, who offered insights as to how the government needs to integrate new media and also issues for traditional media to be aware of.
The talk was attended by members of the Singapore Press Club, including Mr Patrick Daniel, Editor in Chief of The Straits Times.
