Mindef saves $139.6 million
By Jermyn Chow
COST-CUTTING measures throughout the Ministry of Defence and Singapore Armed Forces, saved the ministry (Mindef) $139.6 million last year.

Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Teo Chee Hean commended Mindef and SAF personnel who came up with these ideas at the 22nd Mindef Pride Day yesterday.

The event recognises productivity-boosting innovations in the armed forces. Pride stands for Productivity and Innovation in Daily Effort.

Mr Teo, who gave out 134 awards at a ceremony held at the HDB Hub, said even simple solutions can make a difference and 'help us get better value for our defence dollar'.

This will ultimately create 'an SAF that is creative, innovative and able to think out of the box to win decisively in battle', he said.
