THE Shangri-La Hotel will be ringed by heavy security this weekend for the Eighth Asia Security Summit - better known as the Shangri-La Dialogue.
Road blocks and security checks will be conducted in and around the vicinity of Shangri-La Hotel during the three-day event, which begins today.
Traffic flow along Anderson Road and Orange Grove Road is expected to be heavy, especially during peak hours.
Police advise motorists to avoid the roads around the hotel and to plan their journey early as traffic is expected to be slow-moving.
Motorists heading to and from Stevens Road using Tanglin Road, Orchard Road and Balmoral Road are advised to use an alternate route via Scotts Road.
Electronic traffic information boards will be used to alert motorists of expected heavy traffic.
Hotel visitors are advised to car pool or take public transport during this period, as parking facilities within the hotel premises will be limited.
Motorists who park illegally will have their vehicles towed away.
