13 Chinese teachers lauded

THIRTEEN inspiring Chinese Language teachers, mostly from neighbourhood schools here, were lauded on Friday.

The teachers, from primary, secondary schools and junior colleges here, were recognised for making Chinese language and culture interesting and encouraging students to appreciate the subject.

Each of the winners at this year's Inspiring Chinese Language Teachers Awards will get a trophy, $500, and will get to go on a special study trip to China in December.

Rear-Admiral (NS) Lui Tuck Yew, Acting Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts, was guest-of-honour at the award presentation ceremony, held in conjunction with the launch of the Singapore Book Fair.

The event was organised by Lianhe Zaobao, Singapore Chinese Middle School Teachers' Association and the Singapore Chinese Teachers' Union.
