EMPLOYEES at the Cherie Hearts Group do not have to worry about paying their preschool children's school fees, because that is taken care of by the company.
That alone has been a strong pull factor for its employees, and the annual turnover rate at 1.8 per cent is surprisingly low for an organisation in the early childhood education industry, said Ms Imeelia Ismail, the Senior Vice President for corporate development at Cherie Hearts.
In a bid to guide other companies in offering staff a better way to manage their personal and work life, Employer Alliance launched a tool kit to equip them with the know-how on Thursday.
One of the kit's components is an assessment from consultants who will identify what incentives should be offered at an organisation based on its demographics.
'There are different generations of people working at an organisation, and they have different needs,' said Director for Work-life at Employer Alliance, Yeo Miu Ean.
For example, she said, those from Generation X, aged 32 to 44, will have young families of their own and would need benfits such as childcare leave. On the other hand, those from older generations might appreciate grandparenting leave.
Consultation fees can range from $2,000 to $10 000 depending on the size of the company, after a maximum 80 per cent subsidy from the Ministry of Manpower(MOM).
For those who do not want to engage consultants, a website launched as part of the kit provides all information about the different kinds of benefits that can be put in place.
Ms Claire Chiang, Chairman of Employer Alliance, said that many companies practise flexibility at the workplace without formally articulating them in policies.
To encourage more companies to do so, Employer Alliance is conducting a research on how best to pay those who work flexible hours.
