A MAN who charged at his tenant with a chopper and also a screwdriver was jailed for six months on Thursday.
Lim Chee Hiang, 44, admitted to two counts of criminal intimidation at his flat in Jurong West Avenue 1 on May 6.
The tenant, Mr Liu ZhiBin, 29, a Chinese national, heard some noise coming from Lim's bedroom at around midnight that day.
He saw Lim use a chopper to chop at the television table. He told him not to make so much noise.
Lim then came charging at him with the weapon in a threatening manner.
During a scuffle that followed, another tenant, Mr Liu ShuQuan, 39, managed to pull Lim away while the victim grabbed the chopper.
While Mr Liu ZhiBin was seated in the living room, Lim subsequently went to the kitchen and took a screwdriver to charge at him.
Lim, who said he was drunk at the time, has previous convictions for causing hurt and using abusive words.
He could have been jailed for up to two years and fined for each count.
