S'pore artefacts go to France
SINGAPORE'S Peranakan artefacts will make their debut in Europe, as part of an agreement between Singapore's Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM) and the Musee du Quai Branly (MQB) of France.

Over 300 Peranakan artefacts will be on display at the MQB during a three-month-long travelling exhibition entitled 'Between Multiple Worlds - The Chinese Peranakans of Southeast Asia'.

Some of the items include iconic Peranakan artefacts such as a beaded tablecloth and a gilded teak altar sideboard converted into a Catholic altar, the National Heritage Board (NHB) said.

In exchange, the MQB will loan to ACM an exhibition of African tribal art for three months, with cultural programmes expected to complement the exhibit.

The mutual exchange of exhibitions follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the two museums on Friday.
