A couple - a 48-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman - believed to be involved in a series of coffeeshop break-ins were nabbed by the police on Thursday morning.
Police received reports about several break-ins at coffeeshops along Dover Road between March and April.
Items taken included cash and cigarettes amounting to about $10,000.
There was a breakthrough in investigations in early May when police managed to lift some fingerprints at one of the crime scenes.
This led to the establishment of the identity of the male suspect, who was traced to a unit at Bedok South Avenue 2 where he was arrested together with a woman suspect.
It was established that she was his accomplice in the break-ins.
A total of 221 packets of cigarettes worth more than $2,300 was recovered by officers.
Both suspects will be charged in court on Friday for housebreaking and theft by night.
They face a jail term of between two and 14 years, on conviction.
